GDPR - Data Protection
Lexicon will carry out a site survey and create your CCTV Impact Assessment which is part of your data protection procedures.
DPIAs (Data Privacy Impact Assessment) has been advocated as best practice by the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) for a number of years.
An Impact Assessment should be created for new and existing CCTV systems to ensure that camera settings and locations are correct and fit for purpose. The Data Controller is identified in the documented procedure as well as the reason for using CCTV. The amount of archive data, in days, should be documented and regularly checked.
A set procedure should be followed when asked for archive footage, which includes a nominated person, the Data Controller, and location for viewing archive footage. A Data Protection kit will provide a log book to record incidents, labels and cases. Following your procedures is essential if you wish your evidence to be admissible in court.
Message us for an Impact Assessment.
